Norman Gekko uses recycled & found objects to create original 3-dimensional sculptures.
In the style of trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye), the artworks often depict luxury brands and items of mass consumerism. This juxtaposition of waste items and high-end goods lies at the heart of Gekko's work.
Whilst the artworks are mostly fun and lighthearted, there is no mistaking the inherent criticism levelled by the artist on a society whose greed and compulsive acquisition lays waste to the planet upon which we all depend.
